Gulf Coast State College Health Science Center
Panama City, Florida
The three-story building, originally built in 1982, was torn down to its steel frame, rebuilt and expanded to house the growing health science programs at the college. During an extensive programming phase, 15 affected departments in the allied health programs and their personnel participated in interviews and meetings to assist in planning the new facilities. Programs included in the facility are Dental, Nursing, EMS, Respiratory Therapy, Pharmacy, Radiography, Surgical Technology, Physical Therapy and Sonography. New classrooms incorporate state-of-the-art teaching technology and communications systems, while nursing labs reflect significant investments in clinical setting equipment and simulation technology. A large dental clinic on the first floor, complete with dental hygiene and dental assisting labs, also provides affordable dental care to the community.
